This book is about three children whose life takes a terrible twist. There parents die and their house burns down. They go to live with Count Olaf, some far removed relative. Violet, Klaus and Sunny must stick together and fight for each other. This was a grabber book to a series I can't wait to read more of! (nice review. Good for a BOC pass.)

Review by: Funky Chicken Returns

This book was about three children called Violet, Claus, and Sunny. One dreary day their parents die and they are sent to live with an evil Count Olaf. They struggle to stay together and fight against Count Olaf's evilness. This was an OK book other than when Lemony Snicket went off-topic trying to tell you how bad things were. If you like mildly or extremely boring books, you shouldn't even read this one. It's too boring.
(your so funny Funky Chicken Returns. Good for a BOC pass.)

Review by: really, i just want a journal or a free book

although it has been said that if harry potter hadn't come out at the same time the series of misfortunate events would have been super huge. i have to state that it is not only a series about disapointment it is a disapointment. the main children are flat and irritating and not human, neither are the villans, the villans have no human ness. i am disapointed. it is a bad beginning. which only gets steadily worse as the series contiues and even throughout this book. as usual the book has a "deus ex machina" which is allowed to happen by these children's magicaly being able to save themselves. how can they not realize that no matter what they do the count will try and get their fortune? give up now snicket, even after 13 books, you haven't said anything with substance, and it's just been completely ridiculous. Get a life. Or at least read something - anything - else.
